Besides working on the Dragon quilt, I have seriously invested in working on a short time turn around project, and that is making jewelry. My hobby and inventory has gotten out of control so I had a jewelry party here at home a few weeks ago. It wasn't big but was successful. I have posted some of my items on my other page and will put more up shortly.
Here are a couple of new items to keep you informed.

The Dragon's done
For the first 7 months of this year I have worked when I was able, on this last dragon quilt for Christopher. It has really taken a lot out of me ( i have mid stage PD) so there will be no more big quilts. It was sent out to him for his August birthday, so I didn't have much of a chance to show it off. So this is my outlet. I hope you can bear with me.
Some of the earlier postings have shown where I was going with it, and if you look closely you may see some of the changes. The biggest being the face . . again! My son and best (most honest) critic didn't like the "bonnet" that appeared on the second face so I had him design up an alernative that I could substitute at the last minute. We got that adjusted and it was pretty much done.
The photos will show the progression of the process.

Latest updates

I have continued to work on the dragon quilt. There is no name for it yet...but it is telling me some of its likes and dislikes as far as its appearance goes. I had to redo the face to put it on another angle and that allowed me to make it a little more dimensional.
I am quilting the dragon as I go and will assemble the wings and body just before attaching it all to the background.
I have been securing the background pieces down and still working on all the lightning on it. And I have the back ready to piece together tomorrow.

Catching up
Hi!
It's been a long while since I posted. Foot surgery primarily has kept me away.
So now I want to share what I am in the process of doing.
My current project is Christopher's quilt. I have only just begun to get to the sewing machine - a week or two ago, and I nearly have his quilt top put together. He helped me with some of the design work and then I got it up and running the past couple of months while I was laid up. I have been photo documenting the progress so I will share a couple of the pics with you as it proceeds.

I first went to Kinkos and had them blow up my drawing to a life size scale and proceeded from there making adjustments as I went. It was only after I got the basic design up on the wall that I realized some of the background design wasn't gonna work, so off I go with ferreting out new ideas.
The pale moon and shaft of light I had planned on to add drama, wouldn't work with a stormy sky, so out they went and in came the lightening and clouds
The black sky was too stark and the other got very busy. Changed the wing color as well and finally got to my design .
I am currently finishing the front wing and will finish the dragon itself in the next couple of days.
This is a large quilt and I don't have access to a long arm machine that I know of so I will have to work it up in sections and hopefully be able to get it together. My goal is to get it done by the end of the month...but I still have to do taxes!
While I was down I did do a lot of jewelry and wire work and wi
ll post some pics on that page soon.

Jewelry focus

For the past couple of months I have been focused on holiday stuff and had equipment repairs to deal with. So I have finished a number of crocheted items
( which I haven't any pics) and a number of jewelry items. I am including one pendent here and the rest can be found under the wearables page.
I have also been designing another dragon quilt with my grandson's help. His original dragon quilt has been lost not due to any of his influence, and he would seriously like another. This from a 14 year old. When we got together in Oct, he and I did a rough layout and now I am in the process of refining and choosing some of the fabrics. This will be a double size quilt so I will have to find a shop where I can access a longarm quilting machine or find someone to do it for me. I will put the design process up here shortly.
Scoot over to see the new jewelry and let me know what you think.
